BUDGET MESSAGE

2016 - 2017

Members of the Tryon ABC Board

Members of City Council of Tryon

Citizens of Tryon, North Carolina

The Annual Budget for the fiscal year July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017 has been prepared in accordance to North Carolina General Statute 18B-702 “Financial Operations of Local Boards.”  The ABC Board determines through adoption of an annual budget the level of customer services the ABC system will provide and the resources available for operations and capital projects.

The proposed budget meets several Board goals:

  1. Continued high level of customer service and product availability
  2. Provide continued training for Board personnel
  3. Meet financial obligations against current debts/loans
  4. Submission of a balanced budget as required by NCGS 18B-702(c)
  5. Acquiring and maintaining a working capital of $10k during the fiscal year

Based on the overall performance for FY 2015-16, the projected operating revenues reflect a proposed average sales increase of approximately 10%.   An increase in MXB sales has already been noted during this budget year and will be significant during the 2016-17 fiscal year.   Tryon International Equestrian Center located on the Polk and Rutherford county lines will be a major factor in MXB sales.   Local support for the ABC store has proven that the store has and is an invaluable service to the area.

The budget consists of projected revenues from liquor sales and other receipts to be $484,000, taxes related to income of $116,125, cost of goods $248.000, operating expenses of $110,125 and a yearly bank loan payment of $9,750.

Highlights of the Budget: Key elements include:

  • Sales are expected to increase due to continued economic growth in Polk County.
  • The budget will reflect stability and steady growth for FY 2016-2017.
  • The Board has a bank loan debt; there is no anticipation of incurring any more debt during the budget year.

Conclusion This budget reflects the Boards’ commitment to fulfill its mission based on known information.
